Übersicht

Eines der schönsten Gebäude in Fredericksburg ist zweifellos die Pioneer Memorial Library. Dieses historische Gebäude war ursprünglich das zweite Gerichtsgebäude für Gillespie County und wurde von dem berühmten Architekten Alfred Giles entworfen. Der Stein für das Projekt wurde nordöstlich der Stadt abgebaut. Es wurde 1881/1882 erbaut und diente bis 1939 als Gerichtsgebäude. In den Jahren 1966-77 wurde das Gebäude mit der Unterstützung von Herrn und Frau Eugene McDermott renoviert und 1967 als Bibliothek eingeweiht. Heute bietet die Bibliothek eine Vielzahl von gedruckten und Online-Ressourcen sowie eine große Kinderabteilung.

Fredericksburg Buchfestival

The third annual Fredericksburg Book Festival on Saturday, January 16, 2027, will feature Texas authors. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees can hear authors speak, get books signed, complete arts and crafts activities, and receive a free custom poem by Typewriter Rodeo. Free trolley shuttle service between the Pioneer Memorial Library, St. Joseph's Halle, Holy Family Center (St. Mary’s Catholic Church), and the Gillespie County Historical Society.
