Gillespie County Fair 2026

There's nothing like a good old-fashioned county fair, and the Gillespie County Fair does it up right with a stock show, live music, midway rides, pari-mutuel horse racing, and classic fair food. There’s even a fair parade down Main Street and, of course, a contest to crown the next Gillespie County Fair Queen.

Messe-Aktivitäten

The four-day fair includes midway rides and carnival games, livestock judging, agricultural and household exhibits, arts and crafts, FFA and 4-H exhibits, antique tractor displays, a washer pitching tournament, goat roping, a 42 domino tournament, non-food vendors, and live music and dancing every night.

Parade

The Gillespie County Fair Parade is on Friday, August 28, at 10 a.m. on Main Street, traveling east to South Washington Street, then to Edison Street in downtown Fredericksburg. The parade is free to attend, and lawn chairs are welcome along the route.

Pari-Mutuel Horse Racing

The fair hosts the final weekend of the summer racing season on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30. Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred racing, grandstand seating, and pari-mutuel betting round out the weekend alongside trials and futurities.

How do I purchase food and drinks at the fair?

All food and beverages are purchased with fair tickets (1 ticket = $1). Tickets are available on the fairgrounds. Beer and wine are also available for purchase, with a limit of two alcoholic beverages per person. View the full concessions menu on the official fair website.

Are outside food and drinks allowed?

No coolers or outside food and drinks are permitted at the Gillespie County Fair.

Can I bring a Yeti cup or tumbler?

Yes. Yeti cups and similar tumblers are permitted for pouring drinks.

Can I bring a lawn chair?

Yes. Lawn chairs are welcome for the parade, races, and concerts.

Are pets allowed?

No pets are permitted at the fair. Only ADA service animals are allowed.
