Experience the rich German heritage of Gillespie County. This 3.5-acre museum complex contains excellent examples of early German structures and artifacts. Several times a year, the Pioneer Museum will hold events staffed by living historians in period dress demonstrating activities such as music and storytelling, blacksmithing, spinning and handwerking, and more. Complimentary public programs are held on the first Friday of every month. Living History is held on the first Saturday. Other special events are held throughout the year. Prior arrangements required for special tours of other historic homes and sites owned by the Gillespie County Historical Society. The museum is nationally accredited from the American Alliance of Museums.

Conversational German

Guten Tag: Conservational Texas German at 10 a.m. in the Social Hall of Gillespie County Historical Society, 312 W. San Antonio Street. Held every other Wednesday. Admission to the Pioneer Museum is not required to attend.

Founders Day Luncheon

Join us as we celebrate Founders Day in Fredericksburg with a special luncheon honoring history and heritage. During the lunch, the 2026 Pioneer Spirit Award winners will be honored.

Tickets on sale April 1. Limited tickets available.

Individual tickets are $80 and Sponsor Tables (8 people) are $1200.
